Frequently Asked Questions

  • Longarm quilting involves using a longarm sewing machine to secure the multiple layers of a quilt with a strong, decorative stitch. You choose the stitching design when you bring your quilt for quilting.

  • A memory quilt, also known as a keepsake quilt, is a special type of quilt designed to preserve and commemorate cherished memories, events, or loved ones. It encapsulates sentimental moments and personal history in a tangible and comforting way. You can use items such as t-shirts, baby blankets, wedding dresses, or fabric remnants from special occasions to personalize it.

  • Quilts typically consist of layers, including the quilt top, batting, and quilt backing. While cotton is commonly used for the top and backing, for custom quilts, you have the flexibility to choose different materials. The batting we use is either an 80/20 cotton and polyester blend or 100% cotton.

  • Generally, you'll need about 12-16 shirts or articles of clothing for a throw-size quilt. The design will vary depending on the cut from each piece of clothing, resulting in unequal blocks with a simple border or more than one border. Please refer to the “Memory Quilt” table on the “Pricing” tab to determine how many items are required for the different size quilts.

  • For memory quilts, you provide the material for the quilt top. We will provide the batting and backing material, or if you prefer, you can provide your own. For other custom quilts, the materials are provided by the customer.

  • You can initiate an order by sending us an email with your request, and we will contact you within 1 business day to gather the necessary information. Alternatively, you can reach us by phone or submit a request through the “contact us” section.

  • The backing and batting material should be at least 4-6 inches larger than the quilt top on all sides, depending on the service requested.

  • The size of a custom quilt depends on your preference, but typical sizing includes options like baby, lap, twin, double, queen, and king sizes. Please see the “Quilt Sizes” chart below for common quilt sizes.

  • Turnaround time for custom quilts is generally 8-10 weeks, however, we aim to complete longarm quilting projects in 4-6 weeks. You will be notified if the turnaround time differs from these estimates when you complete the intake form.

  • Quilts can be machine-washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and a gentle detergent. Air drying is recommended, but if using a dryer, choose low or no heat. Dry cleaning should be a last resort.

  • Due to the customized nature of our work, we do not accept returns or exchanges. However, if there is a quality issue or a mistake on our part not agreed upon in the final estimate, please contact us, and we will address it.

  • Quilts make excellent gifts for special occasions. They can capture memories, express themes, and be personalized with embroidered tags to commemorate events or milestones.

  • Pricing for longarm quilting, memory and custom quilts is based on the quilt's size and detail. Please see the “Pricing” tab for details regarding pricing.

  • Orders can be picked up in person, or we offer shipping if necessary. Shipping costs will be determined upon completion and included in the final invoice. Please see the “Shipping Policy” tab for more information.
